Welcome to the blog of the Cuba Friendship Group of Greater Ithaca.
- We organize local support for the Pastors for Peace US-Cuba Friendshipment Caravans and support freedom to travel.
- We demand an end to the US trade, economic, financial and cultural blockade of Cuba and the release of the Cuban Five.
- We envision a post-embargo era of peace and mutual respect between the US and Cuba, and toward that end we encourage relationships through the US-Cuba Sister Cities Association.
Locally, we are affiliated with the Committee on US/Latin American Relations (CUSLAR) and the Ithaca Unitarian-Universalist Social Justice Council.
The banner of José Martí was painted by volunteers under the direction of Ithaca artist John Ewing. I was used to decorate a pick-up truck on one of the Pastors for Peace Caravans. It presently is on display at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Center in Mariñao, Habana.
